The Area

The Cottage is located in Duleek, County Meath. It's a small traditional Irish town surrounded by beautiful countryside with two spectacular beaches nearby.

Duleek is one of many villages in the beautiful Boyne Valley region, which is part of 'Ireland's Ancient East'.

The 'Boyne Valley Drive' is a well known route, where visitors can explore the numerous ancient medieval ruins within this county, starting with Brú na Boinne (Newgrange) it's only 10 minutes away by car.

The cottage overlooks the village green, which is a pleasant grassed area with mature trees, old courthouse, church and parochial house. It is a quiet area.

The name Duleek comes from the Irish word 'daimh laig', which means 'house of stones' and refers to an old stone built Abbey called St. Mary's , the ruins of which are still visible today to the rear of the cottage. It's the perfect place to stay whilst exploring the all the historical sites in the Boyne Valley and further a field, such as Dublin city and Belfast.

Duleek has a variety of local shops, pubs, cafes and a restaurant, which are all within walking distance.
